Self-Declaration of Vulnerability

Our Enforcement Agents and Contact Centre staff are trained to recognise signs of vulnerability. If we believe you may need additional support, your case may be referred to our specialist Welfare Team.

The Welfare Team will work with you to understand your circumstances, assess any additional needs, and help you access free, independent advice. We will also carry out an affordability assessment to help you repay your council tax arrears in a way that is fair and manageable.

If you feel you may be vulnerable or are struggling financially, it’s important that you tell us as soon as possible. The earlier you speak to us, the more we can do to help. Please be ready to provide evidence of your situation — such as medical letters, benefit entitlement, or income and expenditure details — so that we can assess your needs properly.

Any personal information you share will be handled sensitively, kept confidential, and only used to help us provide the right support for you.
